Who are the Friends and What do they do?
The Friends of Happisburgh school is a parent / carer run group that raises funds for the school through events and activities.
The current Friends Committee are; Chair – Yvonne Gilbert, Secretary –Sammy Bird, Treasurer – Christy Watts.
What Fund Raising Events and Activities do the Friends do?
The Friends put on numerous fund raising events each year.
In 2018 the events included a vintage-themed summer fete, Easter Bingo and Mad March Hair Day. The Friends also had a home-made crafts stall at the Acorns Christmas Market event.
This year The Friends are hosting an Easter Bingo event on Friday, April 5 with a raffle. There will also be a ‘Viva Las Vegas’ American themed summer fete on Saturday, June 29.
How are funds spent?
Funds are used to support school activities, this includes:
Free fruit for older children (fruit for younger children funded by government),
School bags for Reception
A Christmas trip for the children, in 2018, this was to the Hippodrome Circus.
School Christmas discos for both key stages.
School leaver’s trip.
Supplies / materials for family learning days in school.
Educational visits – in 2018 this included a visit from a Zulu Dance troupe and Bollywood dancers, to teach the children about different cultures.
And many more events.
How can I get involved / Contact the Friends?
Friends meet once every half term in the Evergreen room ( Breakfast club/library).
Meetings are open to all and will be advertised in the school newsletter.
