At Happisburgh Primary School we aim to provide the children with a high quality and secure learning environment within which they can grow confidently to reach their full potential.
Reception children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
‘The ways in which the child engages with other people and their environment – playing and exploring, active learning, and creating and thinking critically – underpin learning and development across all areas and support the child to remain an effective and motivated learner.’
The Early Years Foundation Stage is organised into 7 areas of learning.
Prime Areas are fundamental, work together, and are moved through to support development in all areas:
- Personal, social and emotional development
- Communication and language
- Physical development
Specific Areas include essential skills and knowledge for children to participate successfully in society:
- Understanding the world
- Expressive arts and design
“Children’s progress in the Reception class is outstanding… Children’s learning needs in the Early Years Foundation Stage are well provided for in a wide range of excellent adult-led and child-initiated activities.” Ofsted 2012.
